“How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.” – Proverbs 16:16
You can buy a lot of great things to help you in life. Husqvarna makes an amazing robot lawnmower. I’m sure a device like that could improve your life. Self-driving cars will be here soon as well. We live in an amazing world. I even hear that they have this toaster that you can put both buns and hotdogs in at the same time to cook them!
Yet, the thing that would improve your life the most is wisdom! The Bible is full of men that sought wisdom, but they didn’t only look in books. They sought it from the Lord! Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Additionally, James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
We have more knowledge at our fingertips than ever before. We are drowning in information, but true wisdom is a real rarity. Knowledge is great. Knowledge is information, but wisdom is the right use of that information. Miles Kington said, “Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.”
Wisdom is the right application of knowledge.
The first step of wisdom is seeking it. Proverbs 4:7 says, “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.”
Wisdom comes from the Lord. What if we seek wisdom as much as we seek financial security, pleasure, and excitement?
Seek the Lord for wisdom!
In Christ,
Pastor Phil
