How Do You Get unSTUCK?

How Do You Get unSTUCK?
  • unSTUCK

You’ve given your life to Christ. You’ve experienced the forgiveness and acceptance of Christ. You’ve been given a fresh start and your life has meaning. So, off you go to start this new life you’ve found.

For a while, you were growing closer and closer to Christ, each day. However, you’ve reached a point where you just feel like the relationship is at a standstill. In other words, you are stuck.

Ephesians 4:22-24 tells us…

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Simply put, a lot of us are stuck because we are trying to have it both ways. We keep a little of the “old self” around and fail to completely put on the “new self.” But, as you can see from the above scripture, the two are not designed to co-exist. One corrupts, while the other is created to be like God in righteousness and holiness.

So, how do you get unSTUCK?

1. Admit there is a problem

Identify and confess areas of your old life you still keep around.

2. Be involved in activities that renew your mind. (Philippians 4:8)

The old phrase, “Garbage in…garbage out.” What do you put into your mind via the TV, the computer, books and magazines, or music?

3. Desire to pattern yourself after God, not the world. (Romans 12:2)

“When our relationship with Christ does not impinge on our everyday living, then other relationships will certainly fill this vacuum. If it is not the Lord Christ whose mind is being brought to bear upon our human relationships, then other lords will most certainly bring their minds to bear upon them.” – Manfred Brauch

4. Study and apply God’s word so that it changes your behavior from within. (Psalm 119:10-11)

Give these a try, and in no time you will find yourself able to finally MOVE BEYOND what’s holding you back.

Gratefully,

David Hulme
Senior Pastor
