Although truly amazing, God’s redemptive plan was never meant to be complicated. In fact, it can be summarized in a single verse.
“He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.” – Romans 4:25 (NLT)
It is a simple, yet powerful statement. It is simple enough for all to understand, yet powerful enough to save those who believe and reach out in faith. What’s more, those who believe and reach out in faith are now able to place death in its proper perspective.
Death is certainly real. We are reminded of that every day. However, Jesus said to his disciples, “Because I live, you also will live.” (John 14:19b NIV)
For those of us to believe and reach out in faith, the life Jesus promises reaches beyond the physical experience of the grave. Because Jesus rose, we have no reason to fear the grave any longer. Jesus has made it possible for us to exchange the eternal death we deserved for eternal life with him.
