Sometimes, we fool ourselves into thinking we have moved beyond hurts, resentment, and hard feelings if we can just reach a point where we are getting along with the people who have caused our hurts, resentment, and hard feelings. However, no matter how much we succeed at “just getting along,” we still fall woefully short of God’s goal for us. His goal for us is not “just getting along,” but rather “let us love one another.”
There is a bridge we must cross if we are to MOVE BEYOND all of our terrible feelings to the place where we truly love one another. That bridge is called “forgiveness.”
The Bible teaches us that we are to forgive as God forgave us. God took the initiative and made a way for forgiveness to happen. He didn’t wait for us.
Today, if you are harboring a hurt, resentment, or hard feelings…take the initiative and make a way for forgiveness to happen. Don’t wait for the other person and don’t put if off until another time. Do it now.
