“There is no such thing as a great man of God, only weak, pitiful, faithless men of a great and merciful God.” – Paul Washer
One of the earliest phrases children learn is “I did it!” I’m sure that you have seen someone lift a child up so that the child could place a ball in a basketball hoop. Undoubtedly, you heard that child exclaim “I did it!”
As we begin to mature in our Christian walk and see victory in areas of our lives, we can also start to believe “I did it!”
God can and desires to do great things with us, but don’t fall into the trap of believing he picked you based on your talent, aptitude, or expertise. 1 Corinthians 10:12 warns us of the danger letting pride creep into our lives, “Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.”
Pride is about my glory, humility is about God’s glory. Why don’t you take some time to reflect on the big victories and challenges you have overcome? Then dwell on the truth that “God did it!” and thank him for it.
In Christ,
Pastor Phil
