Message: “Our Friend”

An icon is a representation (usually a painted one) of a person who is regarded as a symbol of a particular faith or cultural movement. Often the icon itself is treated with as much, if not more, reverence than the person it represents. Images of Jesus have appeared everywhere from stained glass, to famous paintings, to t-shirts, to religious art. However, Jesus is much more than just an icon. Jesus comes to us, not in an image, but personally through an intimate relationship. In our relationship with Jesus we find that he is our friend, our teacher, our Savior, and our Lord.
