“When God looks at us, he doesn’t focus on what we can’t do; he sees what he can do through us.” – Margaret Fienberg
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
God uses people who know they are weak. This week, we saw that those that understand that they are poor in spirit and mourn over their sin will be comforted and will take part in the kingdom of Heaven. The pictures in the Bible of the people that God used the most were people that understood they were flawed and weak. The people that opposed God the most were those that were prideful. There were some pretty gruesome examples of this in God’s word like when Nebuchadnezzar praised himself as a great mighty king of Majesty. 7 years later, he came to his senses after living like an animal and eating grass. God brings down the prideful. King Herod in the New Testament let the people praise him as a god and not just a man and immediately he was eaten by worms. Pride comes before the fall. These are extreme examples of what happens when we think that we don’t need God. When we realize that we are weak and broken and trust God to take those pieces of us and make something beautiful out of them, that’s where God shows off the most. His power is made perfect in your weakness. Trust Him.
In Christ,
