- Jesus: The Series (Season 11)

I remember when I was a kid, there was nothing more agonizing than waiting for Christmas morning. The presents were under the tree, the stockings were hung, and my parents were just taking forever to wake up. I’d sit there, practically vibrating with anticipation, knowing that good things were coming—but still having to wait.
Now, as an adult, I realize waiting never really stops. We wait for job offers, for healing, for direction, for prayers to be answered. And sometimes, like Jesus’ brothers in John 7, we want to rush ahead and make things happen on our timeline instead of trusting God’s.
Jesus’ brothers had their own ideas of what He should do. “Go to the festival, show your miracles, make a name for yourself!” they said. But Jesus knew the truth: it wasn’t time yet. He wasn’t here for popularity or human approval—He was here for God’s mission, and that required patience, obedience, and trust in divine timing.
How often do we get frustrated because God’s answer is “not yet”? Maybe you’ve been praying for something for months—or even years—and you wonder if God is listening. But just like Jesus showed us an example of trusting God’s perfect timing, we’re called to do the same.
Lamentations 3:25 reminds us, “The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.” If you’re in a season of waiting, don’t rush ahead. Don’t waste the waiting. God’s plan is better than any shortcut we could take.
