- Jesus: The Series (Season 11)
This past Sunday, we stepped into a moment of tension and mercy in John 8:1–11, where a woman caught in the act of sin is thrown before Jesus. But instead of condemnation, she meets grace in the dirt.
Here are a few truths from the message to keep in your heart this week:
While the religious leaders stood tall in judgment, Jesus stooped down — twice. He didn’t react harshly or rush to a verdict. He lowered Himself into the dust, into the place where the woman had been thrown. Jesus doesn’t stand over you in shame. He kneels beside you in mercy. He meets you where you are — even in the dirt.
Jesus didn’t deny the woman’s sin — but He also exposed the sin of the accusers. One by one, their stones dropped to the ground. It’s easy to focus on other people’s mess to avoid facing ourselves. But Jesus gently reminds us that grace is not just for others — it’s for us too.
These are some of the most freeing words in all of Scripture. Jesus doesn’t just forgive — He sends us forward. Not condemned. Not chained. But changed.
Maybe this week, you need to drop the stone you’ve been holding — at someone else or even at yourself. Jesus has a better word: grace, not guilt. Freedom, not fear.
Let’s be people who offer that same grace to others this week.
- Remember where Jesus met you.
- Remember that Jesus meets others in the same way.
- Go where Jesus would go and meet people where He would meet them—with grace and truth.
