- JESUS: The Series (Season 1)

Read this verse slowly. Take time to let the words sink in.
Ephesians 1:17-21 says, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His great might that He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.”
Ok, now read it again… feel the weight of these words.
Paul in this passage was praying for the church to understand who they were. He wanted them to know of the immense hope they have. He wanted them to remember what they have in Christ and what they can look forward to. He wanted them to know these truths more than intellectually. He wanted it to permeate who they were.
We take for granted what it means to be a true believer. Paul reminded the church of the exceeding power that they had access to through Jesus. That same power that raised Jesus from the dead is also available for every believer at the moment of salvation. Your Father in Heaven created everything and He rules over it. The same God that loves you also holds existence together. The God that wants to talk with you and walk with you every day is the same God that rules everything. D.L. Moody said, “The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to him. By God’s help, I aim to be that man.”
If we would lean on Jesus instead of on our own power there is no limit to what God could bring us through and use us to do.
In Christ,
Pastor Phil
