“To me, it’s crazy to live any other way than a completely radical lifestyle (for Christ). It wasn’t just for the apostles. It wasn’t just for the early believers. It’s for us today.” -Francis Chan

When we think about the early church and all they went through to call themselves Christians, are we even in the same category? When we think about what is important to us in the church, what sticks out: programs, comfortable pews, or attractive settings? The early church was a close-knit group of Jesus followers that intimately knew each other, were there for each other, and were fiercely loyal to each other. They had their problems, but they understood love was at the center of everything. I believe our church is closer to that early model than some but how I long to see love, unity, and grace like those early days. Won’t you join me in praying for that?

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” -Hebrews 10:24-25

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.” -Romans 12:10-13
