Zechariah’s silence reminds us that sometimes God does His deepest work in the quiet. What I am sure at times felt like only a punishment was actually preparation. A season where doubt bloomed into intense faith, and uncertainty into worship. When his voice returned, it wasn’t wasted on complaints or small talk; it overflowed with prophecy and praise. Luke 1:68 he says, “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people.” Out of his silence came a song that prepared hearts for Jesus. Maybe this Advent, God is inviting you to slow down, to embrace moments of stillness, and to let Him shape your heart in the waiting.
Silence is not the end, it is the space where God often prepares something greater. This Christmas season, as we juggle busyness, traditions, and noise, may we not miss the quiet voice of God. His promise is sure, His timing is perfect, and His light always breaks through the dark.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for meeting us in both our doubts and in the silence. Help us to trust You in the waiting and to see that even in stillness, You are at work. Like Zechariah, may our voices be used to bless and proclaim Your goodness when the time comes. As we enter this Advent season, prepare our hearts to receive Jesus afresh, the true Light who has come into the world. Amen.
