When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”  – John 11:43-44

Sometimes life throws us curveballs that leave us frustrated, sad, or downright confused. Even when we follow Jesus faithfully, we aren’t immune to loss, grief, or unanswered prayers. Mary and Martha knew this all too well when their brother Lazarus fell ill and died. Both sisters loved Jesus, but only when they brought their sorrow and questions to Him did they experience His peace and power. Life doesn’t promise a smooth ride, but it does promise a Savior who meets us in the mess, wipes our tears, and gives hope bigger than we can imagine.

Faith isn’t about never feeling sorrow, it’s about letting our struggles drive us closer to Jesus. Even in the face of delays, confusion, or tragedy, we can trust that He sees us, hears us, and works for our good. The story of Lazarus reminds us that resurrection hope is real: death and despair do not have the final word. So today, we can choose to stop, sit at His feet, and bring Him everything: our grief, our questions, even our quirky distractions. Jesus doesn’t scold us for our worries; He invites us into His presence, where life, hope, and joy abound.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I come to You with my heart open, my joys, my sorrows, my questions, and my doubts. Help me to sit at Your feet like Mary, listening, learning, and simply being in Your presence. When life is heavy and my soul is weary, remind me that You are near, that Your love never fails, and that Your timing is perfect. Teach me to trust You more deeply, to lay down my burdens, and to rest in the hope of Your resurrection power. May my faith grow not because life is easy, but because I am continually drawn closer to You. Amen.
