When David told Solomon, “Be strong and show yourself a man,” he wasn’t talking about the kind of strength the world celebrates. Real strength isn’t found in control, pride, or proving yourself, it’s found in surrender. David’s next words were the key: “Keep the charge of the Lord your God… walk in His ways.” The strength that lasts comes from obedience. Every day, we’re faced with the choice to lean on our own understanding or trust God’s wisdom. The world says strength is doing what you want; God says strength is doing what’s right, even when it’s hard.
When we bow the knee and align our hearts with God’s Word, He directs our path. The proud chase vanity, temporary things that vanish like mist. But those who fear the Lord stand on solid ground. Real manhood, real womanhood, real life, it all begins with surrender. God’s commands aren’t burdens; they’re blessings. They protect, guide, and prosper us in ways our own wisdom never could. God’s way is the best way.
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to find strength in surrender. Help me to trust Your wisdom more than my own, and to walk in Your ways with courage and humility. Keep my heart tender and obedient to You, so that my life reflects Your truth and brings You glory. Amen.
