“There are three dimensions to the peace that God offers to us through Christ: peace with God, peace with one another, and peace within ourselves.” – Ken Sande
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” – Matthew 5:9
What area of you life needs peace? Are you struggling with peace between you and God? Is there nothing between your soul and your Savior?
Is there a relationship in your life that needs some peacemaking? Remember peacemaking is not the same as peacekeeping. A peacekeeper may seek to appease people, to ignore or bury problems, or pretend problems don’t exist. But, as Ken Sande says, a peacemaker will “overlook minor offenses or we will talk personally and graciously with those whose offenses seem too serious to overlook, seeking to restore them rather than condemn them. Instead of accepting premature compromise or allowing relationships to wither, we will actively pursue genuine peace and reconciliation—forgiving others as God, for Christ’s sake, has forgiven us, and seeking just and mutually beneficial solutions to our differences”
Romans 12:18 says, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” We are called to live peaceably with one another.
Maybe there is conflict and a lack of peace inside our hearts. Maybe we are living in guilt. Maybe you have feelings of worthlessness. Are you struggling with listening to lies about yourself? Preach the gospel to your heart. You are loved. You are not condemned. God adores and cherishes you enough to send His Son to take your punishment so that you might be with Him forever in eternity.
Jesus brought peace to people wherever He went. Be like Jesus. Help mend relationships between people, between people and God, and people and themselves. God wants to make peace within you and the lives around you. Jesus whispers to our hearts like He did to the seas saying “Peace be still…”
Go and be a peacemaker.
In Christ,
Pastor Phil
