“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” – John 15:4 (NIV)
Jesus reminded His disciples that they would have to make a deliberate effort to remain in Him; to stay connected to the “true vine.” In order for us to do the same, there are three disciplines we must practice.
1. Make time to be with the Lord every day.
It is not just reading the Bible that is important. We must also let it speak to us and seek to apply it to our lives every day.
2. Maintain a constant conversation with the Lord.
In addition to having a time to pray each day, we need to also learn to talk with God throughout the day.
3. Listen carefully to the Lord
Be open to God’s instruction and trust in His judgment.
“This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” – John 15:8 (NIV)
Believe the evidence and you can experience this living hope as well.
