I always have wanted to try glass-smithing. I don’t want to do it for a career (it seems terribly hot) but I am enthralled with the process. Netflix has a series about glass blowing called “Blown Away.” It is a timed contest to prove that you are the best in your craft. My kids and I were so interested in watching this high stakes competition. More than once masterpieces crashed to the ground and ended up in pieces. Whenever that happened the glass smith would pick up the pieces melt them down again and start over. People have been blowing glass for thousands of years and God has been forming and shaping people for even longer.
But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.- Isaiah 64:8
You were created in God’s image. Sin broke us and ever since, God has been working and forming anyone of us that is willing back into His image. It’s not comfortable. There is pressure, there is heat, and sometimes the potter bends us in ways that we don’t want to go. Trust the hand of the Master Potter. It’s easier if you just surrender and obey Him. God sees a masterpiece inside you. We are the work of His hand. Don’t be afraid. Why don’t you take a moment to let God know you trust Him and you’re ready to be shaped. After you’re done, click on the link below and listen to this worship song that speaks to this lesson. Take some time to praise our God.
