In keeping with our church’s vision, regardless of whether 2014 was a good year, a bad year, or a neutral year, we at Clarksburg Baptist Church are always ready to MOVE BEYOND to something greater.
However, in Psalm 90, Moses reminds us that even as we MOVE BEYOND, there are some realities of life that are always with us:
Reality #1: God is consistent (vs. 1-2) – The One in whom we put our trust is always there.
Reality #2: Life is short and passes quickly (vs. 3-6) – Realizing that life is short helps us use the little time we have more wisely and for eternal good.
Reality #3: Our sin is offensive to God (vs. 7-8) – Although we can know grace and forgiveness, sometimes our choices and the choices of those around us still bring painful consequences.
Reality #4: Life is hard (vs. 9-11) – Life is not easy and struggles come to us in varying degrees.
In light of these realities, we are challenged to pray…“Lord, help me to live my life with perspective and wisdom.” (v. 12, paraphrased)
But, there is another reality:
Reality #5: As believers, the future is our friend (vs. 13-17) – Regardless of the difficulties associated with realities #2 through #4, our future is bright.
God is a God who will never break His promises and that is the God we love, worship, and serve.
- Life is brief, so Moses prayed, “Teach us.”
- Life is difficult, and he prayed, “Satisfy us.”
- His work at times seemed futile, so he prayed, “Establish the work of our hands.”
God answered those prayers for Moses, and He will answer them for us. The future is your friend when Jesus is your Savior and Lord.
Gratefully,
David Hulme
